Last Edit / Update 2-5-2021: The Indian-Celina Lake Recreation Area is a tranquil getaway in the midst of the Hoosier National Forest. Both the Celina and Indian Lakes are within the area, offering camping, boating, fishing, and hiking, as well as tours of a historic site.
I traveled ahead of Ande Rawlings as we were en route for her NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle appearance in Indy. One of her sponsors needed some photo work done, and Ryan Oheler let us use his shop. I was ahead of schedule and looked for something different to do than stay at yet another hotel. I checked my route and found some available campsites at the Indian-Celina Lake Recreation Area that is part of the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana. Checkin was quick and since it was a primitive campsite, set up was pretty easy since all I had to do is back in. I stayed here one night and two days; it was so peaceful. I got camp set up and then made a run-up to a local store. Since I was camped for the night and would not be driving, I got some hot pizza and cold beer. I took a walk down to the lake before the sun dipped away for the night and took a look at my launch point for the next day. Once it came time to crash out, it was a bit chilly and really dark, which works for me because I sleep better that way. Early the next morning, I relax for a bit before dropping my kayak into Lake Celina and spent over 4 hours on this tiny lake. I do not normally like to kayak small water bodies, but this one was so much fun, and it gave me time to play with some underwater video. There were only two other boats that came out, and since they are not permitted to use their motors, it was no big deal. We all had plenty of room to do our thing. I would love to go back here again and spend a couple of days on this lake do some more underwater video stuff.
