FuelTech Bike Bash August 25-27, 2023 – Virginia Motorsports Park
Sunday’s XDA racing did not happen and the event was condensed for completion Saturday due to weather that was projected for Sunday. Which did in fact come through the area, so it was the right call by the promoter. Classes were impacted by the change so splits or runoffs were chosen by majority of the remaining riders in competition. There was a full racers meeting where they had a clear voice on how they wanted to proceed with splits or run off at the next Maryland race.
Numerous oil downs were the most significant problem and slowed things down, as Saturday and the 11 p.m. curfew would stop any further progress in working the classes down. Only one sportsman class would reach completion on Saturday evening. The Voodoo Bracket Bash was canceled, qualifying passes were reduced, and reentry “buy back” was dropped to try and complete the event. There are a lot of bikes that show up for this event, so it is a big task to condense this all into one day. Most events could pull it off, but XDA has a loyal and large following, so it takes a lot of work. Some chose splits, and some have chosen to battle it out at Maryland in September. Many points leaders got beat up and knocked out, so I know many sportsmen hoped it could have gone further.

I managed to get the content we needed but also provided a live feed for the classes, providing that we had a sustained viewer count while streaming. I’m not paid to do event live streams; it’s done on a limited basis as needed or as requested by my partnerships. I have yet to be able to generate the support necessary to provide live stream support on a larger scale to the sportsman classes I love to cover. Two of my favorite shots are shown above, but a few more will be added to the gallery below. If I had Sunday to work with, our numbers would have been a lot larger; the review of the content success is that we pushed content across 31 pages and reached 243k online viewers without boosting any posts, so it’s not too bad for one day and an evening. I tried a new method for delivering content and can see considerable improvement in content reach. The event was rough because of the rushed situation we were all in to try and get things done, but we threw everything we had at it and got through it.
Thank you Rob Garcia you are appreciated brother!

Reminder: I do not work directly for the XDA series, but do support them because of the freedom they give us to cover the racers and make sure these men and women get noticed for their hard work. If they need our help I will always help them.
